off to the Ranch

This weekend we'll be staying at my Mother in Law's ranch.  They went to a horse camp over on the coast, and asked us to watch over the other horses and animals.  It's kinda cool to have a change of pace for a few days.   It just means more responsibilities. It means early mornings...It means being overly watchful of cougar, and other animals that might roam through in the night.. but it's not all bad.

eggs

It also means free range chicken eggs....
bacon

Home grown thick cut bacon...(yeah, not so good on the diet.. LOL)
grass
Beautiful green pastures..
crystal and baby

and best of all...we can't forget all the mini horses, and the new babies this year.

mojo and supra
and possibly, Morgan will get to take a ride on my gentle, loving old horse, Supra again. (yes, I did a SUPER poor job of cropping out my legs.. lol, oh well.

new obsession

Lately I've been back to an old favorite website.  Africam I used to visit years ago when I worked at the Juvenile Justice Department.  Back then, it was MUCH different.  It had a ton of different webcams.  It had safari cameras where you could watch them on game drives.  They also had contests where you could upload pictures of what you "caught" on camera, and they would do winners of the day, week, month and year.  Winner of the year would win a trip to their game reserve.

The cameras used to be refresh type.  I believe after 30 seconds, they would upload a new picture.  Technology has come a long way.  Now, they have 2 cameras that are live action with SOUND!  How cool is that!  They still do have the refresh cameras, but they seem to have cut the safari cameras.

My only issue with Africam is the fact that they are 9 hours ahead of me, and if I really want to see any game show up I have to wait up late.  Around 7pm is sun-up there.  I find myself staying up late watching...finally giving up, and then popping back on before I go to sleep.  The past few days I've been rewarded by staying up late.  I've gotten to see zebra, buffalo, tons of birds, a leapord, a girraffe family (including a tiny little baby..so cute) and have gotten to hear lions and hyenas in the distance making noise.  It's been very cool.  Here's a screen shot I took the other day.  VERY cool.  It shows a few baby zebras.  They were hanging out wtih baby buffallo.  They kept running circles around each other until they finally got tired and stood around.  It was so cool!  If you happen to be up and around at 2:30 in the morning (yeah, I am.. LOL) The Elephant Plains (Sabi Sands Wildtuin) is currently showing a herd of buffallo, and a handful of antelope, and the Nkorho Pan camera (also Sabi Sands area, but I believe it's farther south...but I could be wrong) is also showing buffalo.

This is the screen shot of the other night.
And here is a map that shows where the two cameras are located in Sabi Sands. (Not the greatest picture, but the only one I could find.)

Morgan's New Crib!

There have been a few firsts in the past month. I finally managed to make an omelette. I was so excited I had to take a picture! lol.. (Yeah, THAT excited.. lol)

Doesn't it look yummy? :)

I don't know if I've posted about this or not yet, but Morgan can now crawl. This video was taken a few weeks ago now, but I had to share it.

Morgan also has a new crib now. I'm so excited. We finally got it finished tonight, and she's already asleep in it.

Finished setting up

Pretty wave on the crib

Hanging out after a bath..

Finally asleep
Part of me is going to miss her sleeping with me.

She's getting so big lately. She has 2 teeth now. She bit me for the first time tonight while nursing. I yelled "OW!!" and then told her it's not ok to bite, which made her cry and want nothing to do with nursing, or sleep.
We went on a road trip to visit a really good friend. I always feel like I'm inviting myself to her house, even though she'd prolly slap me to hear that. lol.. anyway, we had a good time and got to catch up a bit. The food she makes is amazing. She's one of those people I'd love to lock in a kitchen and sit and study her cooking and her way around herbs for oh... a few years. I absolutely adore that woman. I was looking at pictures on her wall and realized how long I've known them. Her daughter was just a little girl when I first met them. She just turned 15.
I'll post some more pictures tomorrow. For now I should go to bed. :)

hmm

For some reason, that last post saved as a draft rather than published. Oh well... so, an update to the Biggest Loser Challenge, I lost 5lbs last week!! :D Somehow I don't think this week I'll do quite so well...
I am pretty damned proud of myself though. My mom, sister and I all decided to go for a walk Monday. My mom had hurt toes and couldn't go far, so she and my sister turned back after about a third of a mile. I pushed myself and made it 1.7 miles. I was on cloud 9 all day afterward. I'm hoping to get up tomorrow and use the elliptical and the stationary bike, but we'll see what happens.
Morgan now has 2 teeth barely poking through her gums. My little girl is getting so big. I'll update some more tomorrow... about spring, and other things. for now, it's after 1am and bed is calling.

Biggest loser challenge

I joined a biggest loser challenge. It starts tomorrow morning and I'm so excited. I'm also a bit nervous because I tend to self-destruct with diets. I do really well for awhile, but then I sabotage myself. I'm hoping to start getting some exercise in too. My mom does have a stationary bike, a treadmill and a weight set, so I could always start there.
Morgan loves being outside, so then I think I should put her into her stroller and go walking, but the last time she was in her stroller, the cars (motorcycles mostly) really freaked her out. I still can't believe how big she is. She is 17lbs, 28 inches. Most of the pants she wears have to be 12 month because the 6-9 month stuff looks like Capri's. LOL
We had a pretty good Easter. I realize I had never posted anything about it. I'm trying to keep up with a blog, but it's been hard.
For Easter, we scattered little toy and candy filled eggs from the back door to my mom's bathroom. We put the baskets in there and had the kids follow the eggs.

They were so excited!
Easter

I set Morgan up on my mom's bed with her Easter basket. She delicately pulled each item out one by one and looked at it. Afterward she got to play on the floor with Dryden and her new toys. It was really cool. She got a bunny that laughs, a couple new outfits, 2 books that are soft squishy covered, then cardboard inside, (Bambi and Minnie Mouse), some Puffs, Yogurt Drops, and a few Mumm crackers.
